Unprocessed records, including the Minutes of Delmarva Presbytery from
1982 to 1989, total 3 cubic feet of documents.
Delmarva Presbytery gathered at its first Stated Meeting
on 11 September 1982, with constituent PCA churches from Delaware, Maryland
and Virginia. Thus the name, DelMarVa, or Delmarva, Presbytery. The Presbytery
met in its final meeting at the 30th Stated Meeting on 14 November 1989,
taking the action to redraw the lines of Presbytery and delegate its churches
to new presbyteries. Of these, Heritage Presbytery is the primary beneficiary
of the churches of the old Delmarva Presbytery.
The organizing meeting of the new Delmarva Presbytery
opened at 9:45 A.M. on September 11, 1982, at Abbott Memorial Presbyterian
Church, Baltimore, Maryland, with a service of worship conducted by T.E.
Stephen Smallman, pastor of McLean Presbyterian Church. The service included
hymns and a sermon preached from I Timothy 3. T.E. Franklyn Miller, pastor
of the host church, with T.E. Smallman, led in the administration of the
Sacrament of the Lord's Suppler. The service was concluded with prayer.
